Pandemic
Life is funny. Recently I have found a poem which is really inspiring, would like to share with you all:
We fell asleep in one world. and woke up in another.
Suddenly Disney is out of magic,
Paris is no longer romantic,
New York doesn't stand up anymore,
the Chinese Great Wall is no longer a fortress,
and Mecca is empty.
Hugs and Kisses suddenly become weapons, and not visiting parents and friends becomes an act of love.
Suddenly you realize that power, beauty, and money are worthless,
and cannot get you the oxygen you're fighting for.
The world continues its life and it is beautiful.
It only puts human in cages.
I think it's sending us a message:
"Human, you are not necessary.
The air, earth, water, and sky without you are just fine.
When you come back,
remember that Avocado Toast (a millennial popular food) is optional. Not a requirement."
-----Zachary Laid Finding Freedom
My thought: It's easy for nature to claim her territory back without human interference. We should take this pandemic as a warning to treat the Earth better and realize that nothing is more important than our health. Thanks to this virus, I could enjoy the city without heavy traffic due to temporary shut down of businesses, the cleaner air we could breathe now due to less industrial activities, the wfh lifestyle and new business opportunities. I saw that homeless people are finally taken care of by the city leaders and broken roads are finally getting repaired. Humanity is evolving with the help of technology and this virus. Anyways, I always believe in positivism, crisis creates opportunities! Cheer up, my friends!

Don’t be afraid to trust
When you find someone you want to believe and love wholeheartedly, go for it. I’m not saying that you don’t do due diligence. Do your due diligence and trust 100%. At the end of the day, you got nothing to lose. If the person proves that himself/herself worth your trust, you win; if not, you still win, because you have given love to the person without expecting any rewards. That’s the highest practice for love. If that trust costs some money, then so be it, money is nothing but a tool, depending on how we use it. The goal is feeling happy and healthy!

There’re always two sides of a story so be more understanding and less judgmental.

真相 Truth
People around me always say that if you look at reality through blurry lens, you will be happier. is this true?
I am a person who says yes to opportunities and is curious about the truth. It takes 360 degrees of high intelligence to pretend to be stupid. Smartness has become my habit. I grew up in a busy city like Hong Kong, and I am definitely not a girl who does not understand reality. Since middle school, I realized society and interpersonal relationships are complicated and changeable. It is known as social quality. I studied hard and worked part-time. I had worked more than fifteen different jobs at a young age. I have moderate communication skills, and I have moderate experiences regarding relationships and people-reading. I like new things, but I also value people and things around me.
The truth may be cruel, but I would rather know more than know less. It's no longer the trend to only focus on one field or one person. The message of this generation is changing and we are invisibly unfaithful. For this reason, loyalty and kindness are more valuable, and trust requires courage. In this generation of survival, sometimes I become a wooden doll or robot without knowing it, and I need to change to make myself not numb.
Every moment I try to understand myself, grasp my mind, and treat myself kindly. Only in this way can I know how to love more people and the world.
I wrote this blog to record my feelings, and hope that if you are close to me, you will understand me more. Feeling thankful and grateful!

生活隨筆 Life Random Notes (Chin/Eng)
Keeping a diary becomes my habit. After writing for more than 13 years, I have collected more than ten large and small diaries. Ten years ago moving from Hong Kong to the United States, until now, I insist on writing Traditional Chinese, because I do not want to forget my root and culture. I love my native Cantonese culture, broad and profound!
The advantage of a handwritten diary is that you can record your mood at the time and get inspirations from it. The handwriting font will change with the mood. When you are in a good mood, you will write it neatly. If you are in a bad mood, the font will be messy like a storm. After many winds and frosts, it is so wonderful to look back at your own growth journey! Every time I encounter difficulties, I will write down my memories one by one, chat with myself, and I can mediate myself without even knowing it.
The sense of self-respect is so great! Everyone wants to be valued, paid attention, and respected. In fact, we ourselves are our best believers, viewers, and readers. Let me do an experiment. When you are accused by others, your first reaction is to hate the other party, want to repel the other party, or remain silent? I will try to pull away from the role, treat myself as someone else, calmly think about how to solve the problem, and make suggestions. This is more meaningful than scolding about accountability. I oppose violence, exploitation, and arrogance.
I’m not afraid of being alone, I ’m only afraid of pain and cold though (: P) For examples, when I was young, I would do my best to drill and hide under the table, in order to avoid the doctor to give me a painful injection; I waited to get the “achy”ear piercing until 19 years old; to reduce the number of heartaches from bad results, I tried to avoid input too much effort into loving relationships. I admire the great mothers who gave birth to their own flesh and blood babies after experiencing ten levels of pain.
As for preventing the cold, I would hibernate at home and plan the future in the warm bed. Sleeping is my skill, basically I can sleep soundly in any situation. Sleeping can improve beauty and relieve worries, why not do it more? Unless there’s loud gurgling of the person next to my pillow, or I drink caffeine that day, I will not be able to fall asleep and will have to wake up and read until I am sleepy.
There are still many people and things in life that puzzle me, but my curiosity is endless. Only holding this adventure heart makes me feel hopeful and interesting for tomorrow! Live and learn.

60 Things to Do during Lifetime
Time to update the 60 Things to do achieved by Lilly
10 years ago, I read an article on Yahoo about "50 things to do", I modified the list and responded to those items, adding my own 10 goals.
Here are the list and the 40 things which I have achieved so far :-) Assuming I live forever, I can take it slow and enjoy every bit of the journey more! Keep going!
1. Set foot on each of the seven continents. Travel around the world. Antarctica might seem like a tough one, but here’s how. Once you’ve reached all seven you can truly call yourself a world traveler.
L: Africa and the Antarctica are the ones that remained for me to explore as a budget-minded wanderer)
2. Cross a country on a bicycle. A bicycle tour takes some planning, but it beats being separated from a country though a passenger-side window.
L: Not yet using a bicycle though but I have driven a car throughout the whole New Zealand (around the South and North islands)
3. Ride something bigger than a horse. Trekking through the jungle on the back of a two story tall elephant will surely be something you remember forever.
L: Riding a huge and speedy ostrich in Malaysia at age of 15.
Would like to try riding elephant and camel soon. (在馬來西亞騎鴕鳥算不算?馬就當然有騎)
4. Live like a local for a month. The experience of visiting native peoples will give you way more insight into another way of life than two years hopping from one backpacker ghetto to the next.
L: I have lived like a local for at least 10 years in U.S.A, HK and Canton area; and a month in Australia and New Zealand
5. Visit a “real” blues bar in Chicago. What better way to leave music’s commercialism behind and find the soul of the blues?
L: Done in 2016 Chicago Trip.
6. Learn another language. This is definitely a weighty and time-consuming proposition, but there are plenty of resources out there to ease the process.
L: Myself is trilingual (Cantonese, English, Mandarin); had learnt Hakka, Korean and Japan; Would like to learn more exotic languages depending on where I travel and live.
7. Go heli-skiing. The access to snow and terrain via heli is different (read: better) that anything else you’ll ever experience.
L: Not yet tried. Only took the helicopters a few time as a passenger due to different occasions.
8. Travel India by train. With its extensive rail network, this mode of transport is the best way to see one of the world’s most colorful and diverse countries.
L: On my list ^^
9. Climb one of the world’s Seven Summits. Climbing mountains is not for the faint-hearted, but everyone has had a dream of standing atop one.
L: Went to Rocky Mountain in Alberta, Canada and saw the Crowfeet Glacier on top of the Rocky Mountain
10. Dive with a whale shark. Swimming with these gentle giants is among the most powerful wilderness experiences in the world.
L: On my list ^^
11. Participate in a Carnival parade in Brazil. You haven’t had a good night out until you’ve been to the biggest party in a nation of big parties.
L: On my list ^^
14. SCUBA in the Great Barrier Reef. The largest coral reef in the world is a must for dive enthusiasts. It is the world’s most unique aquatic environment.
L: I experienced Snokeling in the Great Barrier Reef coz I am not a good swimmer :D
15. Publish an article about your travels. Part of traveling is sharing your experiences with others. Plus, getting published might be easier than you think.
L: THIS BLOG COUNTS! And please check out my travel Youtube channel:
L: More than a month in the U.S.!
E.g. (1) Won a social enterprise showcase competition to help non profit -Student Voice Project to promote literacy
(2) "I'm going to College" volunteer at Rose bowl to encourage college education
(3) UCLA one bus one cause volunteer - care for cancer patients
(4) Task captain for assisting elementary education, read to school kids in Los Angeles Unified School District
17. Follow in the footsteps of your favorite travel book. What better guide than a book that inspired you to travel in the first place?
L: I don't really follow any travel guide book because I like first hand experience and share my own stories. By the way, travel books are not as trendy as videos and blogs.
18. Take a bush plane ride into Africa’s interior. These lightly visited regions are filled with unique cultures and diverse wildlife.
L: On my list ^^
19. Cross a glacier on foot. Traversing these fast-disappearing natural wonders is an adventure that future generations might not be able to experience.
L: Visited Glacier on the Rocky
20. Visit the source of one of the world’s great rivers. Great rivers, like the Nile, have humble beginnings.
L: Yellowstone Volcano in WY, USA; and The volcano in New Zealand

L: Sailed in Santa Barbara, Marina Del Ray, and Channel Islands (Santa Cluz). Didn't buy a sail boat though.
