2017 大事回顾 2017 Reflections (Chin/Eng)

There are five days left towards 2018. I don't know what changes have you made this year?

I chose a new way. It can be said that let me have a free year.

At the beginning of the year, to reflect on the work of the tax office, I think that a lot of data processing will be replaced by artificial intelligence.

I want to develop my other strengths as soon as possible such as management, customer service, communication, creation, learning new things, and challenging myself.

Life is full of hope! Although life is not always satisfactory, our courage, emotional intelligence, and wisdom will lead us through the difficulties.

2016 大事回顧 2016 Self Reflections (Chin/Eng)

In a flash, a year passed. My memory is limited and I only remember good things:
1) Increased knowledge and wisdom of life
2) New business direction and development
3) I visited a new place and tried a solo trip for the first time
The road ahead is still long, and there will be new difficulties and challenges. I believe I can move forward with determination and perseverance. Face everything with ordinarily calm heart!

From a friend : good life philosophy

1. Mistakes are temporary regrets, and missing the opportunities are forever regrets! Don't be afraid of mistakes and miss the chances.

2. Rather forgiving others yourself, than letting others forgive you.

3. The world doesn't belong to you originally, so you don't need to abandon it. What you want to abandon is all stubbornness. All is what for me to use, but not for me to own.

4. You have your view of life, I have my view of life, and I do not interfere with you. If I was able to influence your view, then I would reform you. If not, then I would resign to fate.

5. If you are going to get married, tell you a very important philosophical saying: "You must be patient with each other's shortcomings. There is no absolute happiness and perfect marriage in the world. Happiness only comes from unlimited tolerance and mutual respect.

6. My wealth is not that I have a lot, but that I ask for very little.

7. It's not that someone annoys me, but that I annoy myself with someone's words and deeds.

8. Living in the applause of others are people who can't stand the test.

9. If you can shout "I don't need to worry about this little thing" 21 times a day, you will find that there is an incredible power in your heart. Try it, it works.

10. If you can let go of everything, you’ll be a free human in the world.

11. Thank God for what I have, thank God for what I don't have.

12. Coming is accidental, and going is inevitable. So you have to let it be if things stay still and stay still to let it be.

13. A stupid person always wants others to understand him/her. Wise people try hard to understand themselves.

14. To tell a lie, you have to make up ten lies to cover up, why bother?

15. You don't have to look back to see who is cursing you? If a mad dog bites you, do you have to lie down and bite it?

16. Arrogant people could be saved, inferior people could not be saved.

17. Whenever you let go, whenever you’ll have no trouble and worry.

18. The reason why people suffer is due to pursuing the wrong things.

19. It is better to say that your own self-cultivation is not strong enough than saying that the others to make you suffer.

20. Fate is responsible for shuffling the cards, but it is our own choices to play the cards!

21. If you live one more day, you are blessed and you should cherish it. When I cried and complained that I have no shoes to wear, I found that someone in the world has no feet.

Lab 8 Mapping Census 2000 with ArcGIS

Overall, I am very happy that I take this Geography 7 class. With the guidance of great TA Jida and Professor Shin, my interest and sense of satisfaction in ArcGIS are further developed. Revising all the 8 labs I have done, I feel amazed about the ability I have learned for manipulating and applying GIS into mapping. In the first lab, I introduced the characteristics of the places I lived using different maps. This assignment has aroused my understanding that  different maps have different purposes. For instance, I used the weather forecast map to illustrate the moving direction of storm in Hong Kong. Next, we studied about map reading and scale conversion in the second lab. We also gain knowledge of identifying quadrangles, UTM zones, magnetic declination, and geographical coordinates as well as cropping out a feature from a map. In lab 3, I can create my own map using Google map. That was my first time to generate a route with all the geographical features. Most importantly, I realized the potentials and pitfalls of neogeography.  Furthermore, I practiced to utilize ArcGIS to produce different map layouts, integrate them with research, and analyze the results in the latter five labs. For instance, I engendered a proposed airport expansion map layout with titles, legends, scale bars, and north arrow in lab 4. Moreover, I am able to comprehend conformal, equidistant, and equal area map projections because of my practice in lab 5. As for lab 6, I carried out hillshade, slope, and aspect maps of DEMs using ArcMap. More interestingly, I was able to make and visualize a 3 dimensional map due to Arc Scene. In addition, lab 7 allows me to reflect and interpret the temporal pattern of station fire in California on a map.  Last but not least, I understand how to show spatial distribution and population density of different races and analyze the data in the last lab. Therefore, I have absorbed so much useful knowledge and techniques in this class. I appreciate the opportunity to study Introduction to GIS so I will recommend other students to take it.
